This course is not only an entry level course for the new user, but is also relevant to existing users wanting to upgrade or enhance their existing 3d skills, or perhaps change over from other 3d packages.
This course does not just focus on the buttons, but does cover the processes that underlie them.This not only helps you understand the concepts, but also how to apply them to your own work.
Pre-Requisites:
1. A working knowledge of PC's and the Windows operating environment is assumed

Character Design & Modeling

1. Exploring Anatomy : Looks at anatomy and uses this to build solid foundations
in techniques for modeling various body parts of your
characters. A look at various body parts in detail and how
to approach modeling them.
2. Reference Materials : Collect the reference materials for modeling and know
how to create good reference materials and incorporate
them into your 3d scenes for use.
3. Modeling : Gaining practical experience in various tools such as edit poly and
sub-d's for creating your character models.

4. Treatment : Different resolutions, techniques and approaches to creating your

5. Clothing and Utilities : techniques for creating clothing and other accessories
for your characters.
Character Texturing
--------------------------
1. UV Mapping : concept of uv mapping and how it is used to plan for successful
texture application
2. Templating for Photoshop : Using tools such as UVV unwrap, 3d models are
unwrapped and flattened down into 2d and then
used in photoshop to begin creating the mulitude
of layers which make up your models textures.
3. Blending Textures : Techniques for blending are covered here in particular
learning how to deal with difficult areas on your models
as well as for creative treatments.
4. Treatment : Depending on whether your renders are for film , games, web- you
need to approach the creation of your materials to cater for this.
This is all explained with plenty of hands on.
Character Rigging

1. Rigging : 3ds Max Bones and IK\FK

3. Morphing for facial and other Animation : Morphing is a classic technique for
creating facial type animation. We
look at and develop a complete facial

4. Modifiers \ Controllers for Physical Attributes : Physical aatributes can be added
to our characters using controllers
and modifiers such as Flex,
Reactor rigid and soft bodies,
spring controllers and other
"procedural" type animation
tools and controls. We look at
these and how to apply them to
our characters.
